Notes |
- The 1911 census notes that they have 10 children with only 8 still living in 1911. Having searched baptism records and other sources I have found 12 children, at least 2 of these are incorrect and do not belong to Elisha and Eliza.
In 1891 and 1911 Mary Eleanor Pithers appears with the family, but in 1901 she is curiously absent. [2]
Married:
- The marriage was witnessed by Robt Fathers (most likely Eliza's father) and Elizabeth Potts
Newspaper articles from the period suggest that the 40th Regiment were based in Carlisle at the time of the couples marriage.
1911 Cen Res (fam):
- In the census it says that Elisha and Eliza have had 10 children with 8 still living.
Living at 30 Mersey Street is also a family with surname Jennings.
Note: In 1922 Elisha's son George is living at 36 Mersey Street (source: electoral register)
Residence:
- Under the qualification for voting column Elisha has the initials "HO" for both local and parliamentary levels, as does Eliza. This must be a mistake as HO stood for Husband's Occupation.
- Qualification for voting for Elisha is given as R at a parliamentary level (residence) and O at a local level (Occupation).
Eliza's is given as HO for both - Husband's Occupation.
Living at Number 30 are also Annie Bodington and James Bodington. They can also be seen on earlier electoral registers as Elisha and Eliza's neighbours.
