    • My great-grandparents were married on Christmas Day. After a little google research it would seem that this was not particularly uncommon, as Christmas Day was and still is a Bank Holiday it meant that a couple short on money could get married without loosing a day off work! It's unlikely that George and Annie were particularly affluent with George working on the London buses as a cushion repair man (according to my grandfather Sidney John Pithers).

      On the FreeBMD web site there is a Annie Louise Higgs, registered in 1898 in Kingston. Due to contact with a member of genes reunited who had this Annie in her tree, I know that this Annie is not my Annie.
