    Notes
    • The 1911 census notes that they have 10 children with only 8 still living in 1911. Having searched baptism records and other sources I have found 12 children, at least 2 of these are incorrect and do not belong to Elisha and Eliza.

In 1891 and 1911 Mary Eleanor Pithers appears with the family, but in 1901 she is curiously absent. [1]

    • In the 1911 Census it states that Elisha was born in Camden Place, Kensington and that he and Eliza had been married for 41 years with 10 children - 8 of which survived. This means that I am missing one child.

      Hi Natalie,
Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday, but my printer/copier crashed. Only 15 months old, but a 12 month guarantee, and apparentely the fault could be terminal! It's not a mickey mouse one, it's a Brother MFC.
However, seeing I can't send you copies of certs. yet, how are you doing with census returns? I have most of them on my hard-drive, so if you are on broadband I can send them (or at least the ones you are missing, if any).
Robert Fathers was a sargeant in the 55 regt. of foot in 1853. By 1861, he was a sargeant in the Durham Militia, and by 1869 had retired from the 6 regt. of foot. He must have been one hard character!
Elisha was a private in 40 regt. of foot based in Carlisle in 1869, then went to Ireland.
Give me a ring one evening and we can talk -and exchange info - it's got to be easier than trying to type it all out one fingered!
Look forward to hearing from you, one way or the other.
      All the best,
      Rob
